Jones Reunion- Family Stories

That night we had a family program where everyone shared memories of my Grandma (Nanny) and Grandpa Jones.  Clark told us about when Grandpa used to tip his hat to himself in the mirror and then comment on what a fine looking fellow he was.

Audrey sang Nanny's favorite primary song "Little Purple Pansies"

Grandpa also told us about his Grandpas; Grandpa Levi and his "pool hall brawl" and Grandpa Edward's oil find.  What stories will Luke and Chase have to tell about their Grandparents?

Jones Reunion-SOCCER TOURNEY

No competition in this family... right!  Our 3V3 family soccer tourney was another hit.  Grandpa's bionic knees are still doing great and he has no problem taking on the little guys!  There's no holding back on these games, this is serious stuff.  A little pushing and shoving always takes place and a lot of heavy breathing.  The best part of this night was watching Grandma and Grandpa argue about who was faster and then they decided to race.  To the fence and back two times, and when they started Evan questioned, "are they running or walking, I can't tell".  We laughed pretty hard (I still giggle when ever I think about it).  In the end Grandpa prevailed- he's still got it!

Jones Reuinon- GOLF

We started off the reunion with a little golf.  The course was beautiful!  This year Erica represented the pregos (last year it was Angie and Steph).  Clark and Angie showed us how it was done.  Their team won of course.  Each year we have a few less whiffs than the year before but always some good laughs.  Thank you to grandma for watching all 10 grandkids so we could enjoy ourselves.. and we did!

Jones Reunion in Midway, Utah

We started off by taking family pictures.  Always some entertainment in that.  It was hard enough to get everyone there and dressed let alone to travel somewhere.  You know with little ones the window is very small.  So we headed across the street to Martineaus' old backyard (It wasn't up to Kathy's standards, but it did bring back some good memories).  It was quite the event getting everyone grouped together and smiling (I don't have one of the whole gang but will have to add it later).  After all the husbands yelled at their wives and grandma for making them take pictures, we headed up to Midway.  Grandma and Grandpa Jones rented the same cool house for us as they did last year.  It's at the Homestead and it's perfect for us all to run around in.  There's something very enjoyable about us all being under the same roof but not having to stress about things like "eating on the carpet".  We love breathing in the cool mountain air, swimming, biking, fishing and just being all together.

1st Ever Cannnon Family Reunion

Thanks to Elise, we were able to attend the first ever Cannon Family Reunion, and boy was it FUN!!  After the Whiskey Bottle Break we all met up at a fun park in St. George for lunch, games, and of course stories and laughter.  We loved seeing how much all the 2nd cousins look alike- the Cannon gene is strong! Jackson played at the splash park for hours.  Blake of course found a football and played with Hunter.  Audrey found a new friend, Kaitlyn to play pet water balloons with.  They loved the parachute and tug-o-war (thanks so much Cindy!!)  That night we went to a really nice clubhouse and watched a family slide show and continued to chat the night away while the kids continued to run wild.
Sunday we were able to attend church with G. Grandma and then Rob and Steph  treated us to a wonderful lunch at her clubhouse.  I found out that Megan and I share the same birthday:) Blake and Audrey got to have a sleepover with Cindy, Chris, and Carter and on Monday we had more swimming.  That evening  we went to see 'The Sound of Music' at Touachan with Grandma and Grandpa.  Audrey liked it so much that Grandma gave her the movie for her birthday and she hasn't stopped singing since.

Whiskey Bottle Break 2008

Of course we couldn't have a Cannon reunion with out a Whiskey Bottle Break.  The rules were set:  You must wear a wide brim hat to participate... CHECK!  Matt and Paul decided to go with the Sonoran Chapter theme.  They had a blast at Savers picking out their outfits and Matt found these "wide brim" hats.  They came out to some classic Mexican music Paul had picked out and we couldn't stop laughing.  (Nice buns, I mean boots, Paul:)  When we finally did stop laughing, it was down to buisness.  Matt was lucky enough to take the title.  He now gets bragging rights until the next shoot off. The kids had a blast playing in the dirt and each taking their turn to shoot at the bottles.  Of course Grandpa had to teach Blake the intricacies of shooting and gave him a few pointers.

Swimming in St. George

We headed to G. Grandma Cannon's pool as soon as we got to St. George to help cool us off.  This was Chase's first time ever swimming and he loved it!  Jackson loved it too... so much that he was MAD when asked to hold still for another dumb picture.

Our Marathon Summer Vacation

We started off staying at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.  Matt had a conference there so the kids and I drove up and played while Matt worked. We of course hit the M&M factory and the huge toy store at Ceasars Palace.  The kids loved the fountain show at Bellagio.  We ate dinner at the Rain Forrest Cafe which was quite a treat because we've visited the one at Arizona Mills for years now but never eaten there.  We even got to visit our friends the Beans and Beisners. We swam, ate snow cones, and just caught up -so nice to see them again!

Chase's First Photo Shoot

It all started when I wanted to take Chase's picture one more time before he completely busted out of his blessing outfit.  Then I thought,  "we could use these pictures for his birth announcement".  Next I thought, "I'll add the other kids for one picture".  So needless to say, one snapshot turned into a full blown photo shoot- It took awhile but after stopping, starting, dressing, feeding, burping, puking, pooping, rocking, a little yelling (Jackson is a wiggler) and some smiling we captured these moments.  These moments are the kind I never want to forget!

Happy Father's Day Grandpa!

How could we possible ask for better grandpa's.  Horsey rides and motorcycle rides.  Cowboy stories, and army stories.  Dutch ovens and Rubios.  Either one, the kids never fail to get excited to see Grandpa!  We've learned great lessons from Grandpa; never "mess with the long arm of the law" and how to "pound sand".  Also how to make cowboy brands and speak indian... "Keishka"! Thanks for loving us and always know how much we love and appreciate you!  Happy Father's Day!
